Dr. Opolski is an interventional cardiologist and clinical trialist with a primary focus on complex coronary interventions. He graduated from the Medical University of Warsaw and completed training at several international centers, including VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Kerckhoff Klinik in Bad Nauheim (Germany) and the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. (USA). He also completed the Polish Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts (USA).
He developed the CT-RECTOR score and pioneered the application of optical coherence tomography in MINOCA. His research interests encompass intravascular imaging and coronary CT angiography to guide complex coronary interventions. Dr. Opolski is the founding co-director of the Warsaw CTO Symposium and has served as a lecturer and live case operator at numerous international conferences. He refined his expertise in 3D wiring and IVUS-guided re-entry techniques at the Sapporo Cardiovascular Center in Japan, under the mentorship of Dr. Tsutomu Fujita.
Dr. Opolski currently holds the position of Full Professor at the National Institute of Cardiology in Warsaw, and beyond his professional career, he is passionate about swimming, learning languages, and chess.

Dr. Barbero

Umberto
Dr. Barbero is an interventional cardiologist specialized in advanced techniques for complex coronary interventions. He earned his specialization in Cardiology at the University of Turin, followed by a research fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, where he deepened his understanding of advanced imaging and cardiac anatomy.
He continued his clinical career within the Italian National Health Service, focusing on the interventional management of complex coronary disease. He trained in Brescia, Turin and Milan (Italy) as well as in Warsaw (Poland), gaining experience across the full spectrum of the hybrid CTO algorithm and related techniques. His skills in 3D wiring and TD-ADR techniques were further refined at the Sapporo Cardiovascular Center in Japan, under the mentorship of Dr. Tsutomu Fujita.
Dr. Barbero currently serves as an Interventional Cardiologist at Savigliano Hospital (Italy), where he established the local CHIP & CTO program. He continues to pursue innovation in coronary revascularization while nurturing a lifelong passion for mountain climbing.
